The Itala project

The project takes its cue from the consideration that many of the entrepreneurial initiatives promoted by the state are aimed not at all citizens but at people with economic possibilities; in fact, see for example the high-speed trains with high fares or the continuous increases practiced by municipal companies such as urban waste disposal, water and public transport with increasingly high fares and increasingly poor quality of service.

We could give many examples, such as the enhancement of our cultural heritage (average museum price between €10-12), and the increasingly expensive and generalist school (average cost of University enrollment €1,800-2,000/year) and also without a specific connection to the world of work.

Therefore, when the State looks at the citizens, its interest is always directed towards a middle class made up of wealthy people and not towards all citizens, this is because, in the past, Italy’s growth foreshadowed an increase in its per capita income, but the reality is different.

Unfortunately, due to many factors (globalization, lack of business credit) this development trend has been interrupted, with the closure of factories and activities and the consequent loss of millions of jobs or the transformation of fixed and guaranteed work into precarious work.

In the last economic crisis, many Italians have suffered economic problems and are or feel absolutely forgotten by the state and excluded from society.

These citizens make up the majority of the Italian population and are the productive and silent part, which today makes ends meet with difficulty, is afraid of what the future holds for it and feels increasingly precarious given that its certainties have failed.

For this reason, Italians are certainly no longer consumers who follow fashions or the indications of advertising now positioned only on the high end of consumption.

These citizens must believe that if accompanied by initiatives that create new jobs and products at low prices they can be involved again in consumption and in the development of the country.

Furthermore, understanding that the State, at all levels (central, regional, provincial and municipal), wastes our resources and our assets and squanders our money without any restraint by now, it is understood that only a private initiative can solve this problem and bring this large part of the citizens, now disappointed and frightened, closer together.

In addition to this, the previous period of development has generated in citizens a propensity for more compulsive consumerism, with enormous increases in waste and in the State a propensity to abandon the initiatives undertaken (see the thousands of unfinished works throughout Italy).

The project therefore envisages the recovery and reuse of many things of daily life that today generate costs for citizens, see waste taxes or special materials disposal tax (batteries, refrigerators, etc.) which instead treated privately represent a resource and earnings, both for the citizens who will give them and for the company that will recover them. Likewise the recovery and reuse of all those works abandoned and unfinished by the state or abandoned for short-sighted policies and interested in something else. The last strategic point of the project is certainly the tourist relaunch of the country, as a fundamental Italian resource. But this rediscovery of Italy must be done on the territory, on nature, on the secondary and unknown artistic heritage, on the villages, on the old crafts on our culture. It is no longer conceivable to leave all this heritage to the State or to the Regions which, while launching monumental projects, have an elitist vision that is not for everyone and for all budgets.

The elaboration of the Project goes through a study of the current situation, both in Italy and in Europe.

Therefore the objectives of the project have been identified:

1. The enhancement of Italy’s real estate, natural and cultural heritage and the increase in the usability of services to a wider clientele today excluded for economic reasons (about 30 million people in Italy alone)

2. The creation of permanent jobs, with a minimum salary of €1,300 a month.

3. All services provided must be at affordable prices for all social categories, especially low-income ones.

4. To obtain the best prices, every source of costs, both direct and indirect ones, will be scrupulously studied in order to optimize them, reduce them and eliminate superfluous costs.

5. The recovery of all objects, still usable, but thrown away for market reasons.

6. The creation of hotels, restaurants, bars and vending machines at low prices for the development of tourism in low-income social categories.

7. The creation of professional schools within the group that train all employees and other students on an agreement seriously and with love for their work.

8. The creation of industries and applied research centers in the various development sectors of the group.

9. The creation of farms and breeding farms with the dual objective of reducing production costs and repopulating the abandoned and depressed parts of our territory.

10. The creation of a public transport system that fulfills the dual objective of reducing costs for commuters/students and serves tourist mobility.

11. The creation of markets with products from group companies and recovered products.

12. Training of artisans and professionals from developing countries (through our professional schools).

13. Support these new artisans with the installation of structures to create job opportunities both in Italy and in developing countries.

14. Liaise with the public administration (especially mayors of small towns) to have an exchange for the benefit of the population between our services and budget logic.

The company, which we have set up, is a joint-stock cooperative and to cover most of the necessary financing, the largest possible number of citizens will have to be involved as shareholders of the company.

Furthermore, the company does not have the purpose of remunerating capital, but rather the creation of jobs and a different approach and philosophy for our territory.
